Delivering extra-curricular PE and sporting opportunities for 18,000 pupils aged 6–18 across North West Leeds

Leeds North West School Sport Partnership (SSP) was launched in 2000. Taking the area lead in delivering the Government's strategy for sport, most recently labelled the 'School Games' through the provision of extra-curricular PE, and sporting opportunities for pupils aged 6–18.

In addition we support schools with their DFE PE & Sports Premium objectives relating to improving the quality of PE and Sport across the whole school.

Initiatives include supporting schools with the 60 active minute agenda, tackling inactivity, inclusion, student leadership, and active learning. School Games Mark, and Inclusive Health Check applications. Developing personal challenge, health and safety, community club links, delivering health related interventions, home learning and staff CPD.

A large focus of the SSP is to develop, manage and co-ordinate primary and secondary inter and intra school sport competitions. A wide range of inclusive, alternative and traditional competitions are provided to engage all pupils. Our performance events provide the start of the pathway to district, county and national level school competitions.

The Leeds North West SSP covers 40 Primary Schools, 7 Secondary Schools, 1 SILC and 1 PRU

Natalie Robinson

Partnership Manager for Leeds North West School Sport Partnership.

I have worked in this role since 2008 based at St Mary's RC High School, in Menston.  I have an outward facing role and serve 47 schools across Leeds North West.

My role involves delivering the Government Strategy for Sport, currently called the School Games, providing positive and meaningful opportunities to children through PE, Sport and Physical Activity.

I believe all children should have access to a range of opportunities to be physically active to enable them to be healthy, and develop a positive relationship with exercise for life.

I practise what I preach, and if I did not have to work I would spend my days cycling through the Yorkshire dales, and I have taken part in many cycling challenges.  Most days exercise for me is walking my Border Terrier Penny, and walking my toddler to gymnastics.
